Midfielder Michael Carrick admitted hopes to continue to defend Manchester United until his retirement. About his physical condition recovering from an Achilles tendon injury, he expressed readiness to work hard so quickly back to the best condition and help Manchester United retain the position.
MU currently controls the standings with 31 points, or two points ahead of Chelsea and Arsenal in second place and third.
According to reports in the UK, in order to maintain position, the MU intends to strengthen its fleet by buying the Bayern Munich midfielder, Bastian Schweinsteiger, the second transfer window in January next.
According to the Daily Mirror, one of the reasons MU requires Schweinsteiger is anticipating the possibility of departure of Carrick, whose contract runs out in June 2012 and so far has been running tough contract negotiations.
Carrick could not comment on the news about Schweinsteiger. However, the matter of the contract, in his opinion there is not negotiating an extension.
"I experienced periods of incredible here. Hopefully, it will come next great period. I liked everything about a United player," said Carrick.
"Nothing has happened related to the conversation (the contract). However, this is the perfect place for me," he added
